MAC Marilyn Monroe Lipstick: Deeply Adored
I was near my local MAC counter the other day and me and my friend Emma couldn't resist going in and having a look at the new Marilyn Monroe lipstick collection as we're obsessed with MAC lipsticks. While we were browsing one of the girls told us they wouldn't be getting any more of the lipsticks in and there weren't many left. Also, I'd seen earlier that day that they were sold out on the MAC website, so we obviously had to treat ourselves to one each from the collection.
There were five lipsticks to chose from; Pure Zen (nude), Scarlett Ibis (orange/red), Love Goddess (pink/red), Charmed I'm Sure (true red) and Deeply Adored (dark/deep red). As I've been looking for a dark red for a while I went for Deeply Adored and Emma went for Love Goddess.
First things first - I'm going to talk about the packaging. The packaging is black and glossy and features an edgy print of Marilyn Monroe and her signature in red. A lot of people haven't been impressed with it, thinking it looks tacky or cheap but personally I really like it. That's all I've really got to say about the packaging. What do you think of it?
I absolutely love the colour of Deeply Adored! It's a bit darker than what you see above but I couldn't get the true colour in the photo of my lips, it's much closer to the swatch on the back of my hand. It's a gorgeous dark red, something that was missing from my collection. I did have my eye on MAC Hang Up but I swatched both of them together in the store and they were quite similar. The lipsticks have different finishes and this particular one is a matte finish. I have a couple of MAC matte finishes but this seems to be more comfortable on my lips than for example, Russian Red. Deeply Adored goes on really opaque with no need to build up the colour and I'd say it lasts on the lips for about 3-4 hours. I also thought the scent was slightly different than the usual Vanilla, or is that just me?
Overall, this is another favourite in my ever growing Autumn lipstick collecton. If you'd like one of the Marilyn Monroe lipsticks I suggest running to your nearest MAC counter as I think they're going to be completely sold out soon. They cost £15.50 which is slightly more expensive than the originals, but it is a limited addition. Have you managed to get your hands on anything from the MAC Marilyn Monroe collection?
